Hand

No matter how old you are or what you do for a living, you are always using your hands. When there is something wrong with them, you may not be able to do your regular activities at work, at home or leisurely.

The anatomy of the hand is complex, intricate, and fascinating. Its integrity is absolutely essential for our everyday functional living. The complex abilities of the hand are part of what make humans unique. Each hand/wrist consists of 29 bones, 29 joints, 123 ligaments, 34 muscles, 3 major nerves, and many blood vessels.

Hands are capable of a wide variety of functions, including gross and fine motor movements. Gross motor movements allow us to pick up large objects or perform heavy labor. Fine motor movements enable us to perform delicate tasks, such as holding small objects or performing detailed work. Our hands may be affected by many disorders or problems, most commonly traumatic injury.
